Why 10,000 books in 28 days?

Friends,

Book publishing is an odd science. I do not write books to make money (otherwise I would write fiction). If we sell 10,000 books in 28 days, sold on Amazon, for example, I might make $1,000–which would go directly to my school loan fund. What really matters is distribution and getting the message out—-namely, that the gospel is the answer to the social pathologies plaguing black communities. That can only happen if we create buzz and move units really fast in the first 30 days of the book’s release.

Because of the severity of these issues, we believe that this book needs to be on bookstore shelves, on Kindles, and more. I don’t have a big PR firm, I’m not a mega-church pastor, and so on, so I don’t have the kind of resources that others do so, let those in my family before me, I have to get on foot and knock on doors. The only thing I have is you. The goal of 10,000/28 is to create enough buzz that the mainstream media pick up the book and we can launch a national conversation about the gospel and the black community (and to get this book on shelves in bookstores).

Thanks so much for joining us in this 10,000/28 campaign!

For the Kingdom,

Anthony Bradley

10,000 copies/28 days: I will speak for free at your organization Feb 18-19 or Feb 25-26.

For the month of February, any mega-church that purchases 1500 copies or more of Keep Your Head Up I will wave my speaking fees completely and come to your organization and speak on the topics. If your organization is interested please contact me directly.

10,000 books/28 days: Donate books to inner-city churches

February 2012 is black history month and if you, your family, or your church is looking for ways to bless inner-city churches in your area with resources that will last in the long-term, beyond short-term projects, consider purchasing 200+ books for the men and women in inner city churches who need to hear how the gospel applies to their situation. It could be a great way to enter into the reflections of the black experience in America and God’s solution to personal and social struggle.

10,000 Books/28 Days: Calling all rappers and poets

During February 2012, if any rapper or spoken word poet posts a video related to the issues raised in this book on YouTube or Vimeo with “Keep Your Head Up” somewhere in the title of video posting, you will receive a free, signed copy of the book. Here’s what your lyrics must as least include:

(1) Some reference to how the gospel addresses issues listed in any of the chapters.

(2) Include the title of the book, “Keep Your Head Up,” in the heading of the post and at least once in your song or poem.

(3) Add a link in post to this website.

(4) Post your video on Facebook and Twitter.

Contact me via email, Facebook, or Twitter to let me know that you have posted the video. I will also post the videos on my Facebook wall and twitter page (between the two over 5,000 people will see the video).

To give you a sense of what the book is about click here.

The top three videos will be chosen for an internet context in March and the winner will receive a $200 gift-certificate to Amazon.com.

10,000 Books/28 Days: Give books to college students at HBCUs

If there is an Historically Black College or University in your area with whom you would like to build a relationship, Keep Your Head Up could serve as a great opportunity to begin a conversation. One idea might be to purchase 100 or so copies of the book and hold an event at your church or sponsor an event on campus. The list of colleges by state are here.

10,000 Books/28 Days: Donate books to Reformed Black Churches

In a church-to-church program, a larger Reformed church can support the growth and mission of Reformed black churches all over America by purchasing copies of Keep Your Head Up and having them delivered to the various Reformed black churches across America. In the church-to-church program we simply need 500 churches to donate 200 copies of the book for delivery.

If you represent a mega-church and want to purchase 2,000 or more copies of the book to give to another mega-church it may be best to contact Crossway Books directly to inquire about a bulk-purchasing pricing.

The Reformed Black churches in America are listed here.

10,000 Books/28 Days: Donate books to your favorite charity

Many inner-city ministries and urban workers lack the funds to purchase good resources that can help them develop professionally. You can help by purchasing copies of the book and simply have them delivered to your favorite charity or ministry. If 200 charities and urban ministries are given 20 – 40 copies of the book each it would do a great deal to encourage labors to connect the gospel to complex issues in their communities.
